Man oh man, if you’re in Toronto next weekend and you dig New Orleans traditional jazz (and if you don’t you should) then make sure you check this out. There’s a “Kid Bastien Weekend” happening and there’s a bunch of great bands playing all weekend. Don’t know who Kid Bastien is? Here’s some info from the Facebook event.
It has been 10 years since Cliff ‘Kid’ Bastien left us. To pay tribute, Grossman’s Tavern is hosting a weekend long party featuring various musical groups and friends who have played with Kid or been inspired by his music.
“Over the years, many musicians and potential musicians fell under the spell of Kid Bastien, and through him, under the spell of New Orleans jazz. In addition to being a musical mentor to many, he also had a big impact on audiences over the years and was a much loved musician, non-conformist, character and fun person to be around”
-Chuck ClarkeCome celebrate with us! We know that he would want you to “knock yourself out” and “laissez les bon temps roulez!”
And for you blues-inclined folks don’t forget that the John Lozano Blues Workshop weekend is also happening! Good grief, so much amazing stuff to do! Mama Hen and the Big Roosters will be playing good ole’ blues on Friday night so check out the Facebook event for all details on that.
Best news is that both events converge on Saturday night at the same dance! It’s going to be EPIC!
