Now many of us know all about the Harlem dance scene in the 1930’s & 40’s and all the cool stuff that happened there but did you know that Ontario, Canada (yes our beautiful province) had some pretty awesome dance halls with enough history to keep you entertained for hours and hours? Well it did and I’m starting a new series from an awesome book I read called “Let’s Dance: A Celebration of Ontario’s Dance Halls and Summer Dance Pavilions” by Peter Young on many of these places.
My hopes with these posts is that you will:
1. Become a bit more educated in one area of Ontario Lindy Hop/Big Band History (I’m also looking to also do a post series on Canadian Big Bands of the 40’s & early 50’s).
2. Want to visit some of these places as well and experience your own piece of dance history
So up first…Palace Pier, Toronto, Ontario Canada.
