On Saturday and Sunday afternoon we have organized a number of activities designed to incorporate the local environment, facilities and attractions. Join in a snowshoe or ski outing, explore spectacular Ragged Falls Provincial Park, go skating and tobogganing at Arrowhead Park, or drive into Algonquin Park. And there are always spontaneous events that spring up over the weekend everyone is welcome to join in on.
Skiing and Snowshoeing
You can bring your own skis and snowshoes or rent from Algonquin Outfitters just 1km from the Wolf Den. Check out the winter gear pricing on the Algonquin Outfitters website. Bring your own skates and toboggans (although tubes are available at Arrowhead Park) and any other winter gear you need for the weekend.
Variety Show
Jugglers, singers, ventriloquists, magicians, actors, dancers, musicians, contortionists, poets and entertainers extraordinaire, real or imagined, needed for the Sunday Night Camp Variety Show. Come with a prepared act or put one together with people you meet before the show. Sign up before the show and prepare for adoration and accolades from the assembled throng.
Camp Fire
Don’t let the cold scare you! Each night (weather permitting) we will have a campfire to relax, hang, sing and tell stories by. Wood and log seating provided.
Scotch Tasting
On Saturday night after the meeting several scotch lovers get together for a scotch tasting, affectionately dubbed Winterscotch. The general idea is to bring a bottle of whisky you would like to share with the group and sit around and sample the wonderful whiskies. This is of course optional, but has always been one of the most favourite events of the weekend.
Skating, Tobogganing & Tubing
There is skating on a 1.5 km outdoor path, tobogganing and tubing at Arrowhead Provincial Park, about 30 min drive from the Wolf Den. They light lanterns along the skating path for the night skate. This was a big hit with the people that went last year! All are welcome to go anytime over the weekend.
Free Time
You are welcome to enjoy our organized events or enjoy the on-site amenities, local attractions and natural beauty on your own schedule. The Wolf Den features a sauna, loft lounge with books, cards, board games, couches and fireplace, on-site forest, campfire and screened gazebo. Algonquin Outfitters is only 1 kilometer away and features an outdoor clothing and equipment store and snowshoe and X-C ski rentals. Ragged Falls is a 15 min hike away and the West Gate of Algonquin Park is an 8 km drive.
