We may not be able to Lindy Hop in person this year to celebrate World Lindy Hop Day on May 26th, but we can 100% do it virtually and there is lots planned! Here are some of the details for the Toronto Area (and a couple outside of our city):

In honour of World Lindy Hop Day on May 26th, Canadian dancer, Nancy Hitzig, will lead a live online performance and family-friendly jazz tutorial for #CanadaPerforms
Born in 1914, May 26th is the birthday of Frankie Manning, one of the most influential people in swing dance history, the performance and tutorial will be live streamed at 4 PM EDT on Instagram Live on handle @nothingbuthitz.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s #FrankieMonth and this year there’s a global #ShimShamRelay. Here’s the global event: Global #ShimShamRelay for Frankie Manning’s Birthday!
The idea is that if everyone shares a video or joins a virtual party at 8pm in their timezone, the Shim Sham will ripple across the world like a relay.
So this is my EDT party! We’ll start the little virtual party at 7:45pm to work out anyone’s technical issues before we do the Shim Sham together at 8pm. After we can also have a little silly virtual party for a bit. This will be ON Zoom and on TLH’s FB Live.

Vintage Clip Show: Frankie Manning Edition-May 26th @9:30pm
Join Side Street Swing for another fun evening of vintage dance clips, this time focusing on the amazing career of Frankie Manning! Frankie’s influence on Lindy Hop cannot be overstated, as an innovator, performer, teacher, and story keeper. We’re looking forward to exploring some of his incredible legacy, on what would have been his 106th birthday!
This clip show is happening online. We’ll share video and audio with you all, and open it up for group discussion after each clip. A link to the meeting will be posted below when we’re ready to start – all you need to do is click and join in!
Make sure to get your popcorn and tune in a little early so that we all have a chance to make sure things are working smoothly. We’re looking forward to hanging out with you and enjoying some amazing clips.
